Evan Box from Brookfield, QLD 

Evan Box lives with his wife and two children on an 11-acre property in Brookfield, west of Brisbane.

The family does not have access to the town’s main water supply, and, up until a few months ago, relied on a network of smaller tanks to store water for their home and garden.

THE PROBLEM

The small poly tanks on Evan’s property didn’t have the capacity for him to feel confident in his family’s water supply.

They did have a creek pump in the past, but with the creek barely flowing the family’s water use was limited and Evan had to make some sacrifices when it came to maintaining the property.

“We didn’t water or irrigate the yard because we had to be extra mindful of the water we used,” Evan says.

THE SOLUTION

Evan knew that another poly tank wasn’t going to cut it this time—he wanted more bang for his buck. After some research, he decided a larger steel tank from Pioneer was the most cost-effective solution.

“As far as water storage goes it’s probably the best ‘cents per litre’ piece of infrastructure you can throw in there, comparative to say poly tanks or concrete tanks,” Evan says.

This extra water storage means (in addition to his original goal of watering the yard) Evan’s family has access to fresh water to use as they see fit.

“The tank’s going good, we’re just waiting for rain now,” he says.

“If we get it to full, we’ll well and truly be able to have water fights in the backyard!”
